Например, несмотря на то, что у самолета было колесно-лыжное шасси, взлет/посадка производились только с/на воду. После посадки происходила обратная процедура и, к тому же, требовалась просушка самолета, поскольку он был полностью деревянным, в воде намокал и прибавлял в весе. Для этого на кострах прогревали песок, который потом ссыпали в мешки, коими обкладывали корпус самолета.
